Maybe it wasn't the real Santa, after all.

During the second week of our cruise (New Years), we were upgraded
to a really lovely suite

This towel sculpture by our room steward was a shocker at first!!

For
Christmas and New Years 2001, we cruised for two weeks on Royal Caribbean's
Rhapsody of the Seas. We sailed from Galveston, right in our own
backyard and traveled to Oranjestad, Aruba by way of Cozumel, Mexico,
Montego Bay, Jamaica, George Town, Grand Cayman and Willemstad, Curacao.
We ended up in Tampa, Florida and headed on to Universal Studios to
celebrate Elizabeth's 11th birthday.
A two-week cruise really allowed us to get
comfortable with the ship and relax. We enjoyed some fine
snorkeling, swam with manta rays, sharks, giant turtles and eels, ate and
danced and swam and ate some more. The Rhapsody was a lovely
vessel. Craig especially enjoyed the pianist and took home a passel
of prizes from the "Name that Tune" competitions. Curacao
was charming. Montego Bay was filthy and commercial. Grand
Cayman was flashy and fun. Aruba was a great place to catch some
rays (of the solar, not manta, variety).
At Universal, we stayed at the Hard Rock
Hotel, which was great and a great value to boot. Staying at the
hotel allowed us to go to the front of any lines at the park and
restaurants. Great fun!! |
